Finance Accounting Specialist - Minneapolis

Responsibilities

  • Liaison with product and technical teams to develop timely and accurate reporting, analyses, and journal entry support
  • Develop and/or enhance processes to translate large data sets into consumable, customer and/or vendor-facing interactions, key reporting metrics, and business outcome measures
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis; investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
  • Develop and track key financial and operational metrics
  • Create and analyze complex monthly journal entries into our General Ledger
  • Assist with Accounting System setup and configuration (Netsuite)
  • Perform account reconciliations and analyses, prepare journal entries and review accounting classifications in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities
  • Support SOC1 compliance processes and internal testing
  • Assist in executing client setup/billing/collections and vendor setup/AP/Payment of Vendors

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, experience in public accounting and healthcare, preferred
  • Proven history of process improvement related to data management, transformation, and summary outputs to support a variety of internal and external reporting needs
  • General understanding of healthcare concepts and key principles
  • Strong accountant with knowledge of GAAP, helpful if experienced in healthcare
  • Data analysis and modeling experience using Excel, or other tools to analyze large volumes of data and identify areas of improvement
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, team skills and capacity to communicate within all levels of the organization
  • Strong business partner, able to collaborate with teams across the organization
  • Relentless pursuit of excellence in communicating the why's along with the what's as it relates to s Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of initiative
  • Handle confidential information with discretion
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with firm deadlines
  • Find ways to implement financial reporting and metrics to an organization that is not yet centered on such a mindset

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a multi-faceted health plan or provider setting
  • General understanding of the healthcare market – Self Insured, Fully Insured, Medicare Advantage, Stop Loss, etc
  • Dynamic, personable and engaging individual who enjoys team play and recognizes that relationships are the most important factor in getting meaningful work done together
  • Ability to execute processes in their current configuration while simultaneously taking initiative to craft process and automation improvement ideas, then proactively vet them with the broader Finance and Financial Operations Product team at bind to affect continuous improvement
